Power Restored to 115K Homes, Businesses

Power was restored to all the 115,000 South Bay homes and businesses that lost power on Sunday after downed lines shut it down.

The outage occurred after 7 a.m. and was the result of some downed power lines at an Edison substation near Crenshaw Boulevard and 190th Street, said Jennifer Manfre of Southern California Edison. Power was restored after 2 p.m.

There was no immediate word on when electricity would be restored.

Police in Gardena said numerous traffic signals were out, and that crews were placing temporary stop signs at the affected intersections.

They reminded drivers that a dark signal means all vehicles must stop, and drivers should consider those intersections "all-way" stops.

The SCE outage map showed the problem to exist from Torrance south to the Palos Verdes Peninsula, generally west of the Harbor (110) Freeway.
