A pedestrian was killed after he ran onto a Southern California freeway Thursday night, authorities said.
The deadly crash happened along the southbound 605 Freeway near Whittier Boulevard, on the border between Whittier and Pico Rivera, said Watch Sgt. Ernest Bille, with the Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Department.
A man was spotted running across the northbound lanes of the freeway and was hit once he crossed over to the southbound side of the 605, Bille said.
It was not clear why the man ran onto the freeway. Bille said he was not being chased by law enforcement.
The victim has been identified only as a 25-year-old Hispanic male, Bille said.
