Several people were hurt in a two-car rollover crash in downtown Los Angeles. Annette Arreola reports for Today in LA on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024.

Investigators in downtown Los Angeles are searching for the driver involved in a rollover crash that injured seven people overnight.

First responders were called shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday to the intersection of Broadway and Cesar Chavez Avenue. There, a sedan and a pickup truck crashed, destroying both vehicles.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said two people who were trapped in the vehicles had to be extricated. Three people were taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The severity of the injuries from the four other people is unclear.

It’s unclear what caused the crash or who was at fault, but witnesses recalled seeing one of the drivers traveling well above the speed limit just before impact.

Investigators said one driver took off running moments after the incident. A detailed description of that individual was not provided.

Officials are investigating if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
