Los Angeles International Airport suffered a brief power outage Tuesday night due to a lightning strike, while a plane had to return to LAX after being struck by lightning, the airport told NBC4.
Tom Bradley International Terminal, along with Terminals 5 and 6 were affected by the lightning-induced outage, according to LAX officials at approximately 10:30 p.m. TSA passenger screening and baggage screening required rebooting, LAX officials said.
NBC4's LAX camera caught several lightning strikes near the airport.
In addition, Delta Flight 2432 heading to Seattle was struck by lightning shortly after taking off from the airport. The pilot did not declare an emergency but did request to return to the airport, according to airport officials.
The flight landed at 8:08 p.m., LAX officials said.
Passengers were put on a different plane to Seattle, the airline said.
