Homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Palms, the same location of a series of shootings that left one dead and four wounded last week, police said.
A man in his 30s was found in an alley with a single gunshot wound, said LAPD Officer Tony Im.
A possible suspect vehicle is a dark Dodge Ram pickup truck. Police initially said the case may be gang related, but don't think so anymore, said LAPD Lt. John Jenal.
It was too early to tell if there is a connection to last week's shooting in the same area.
A man was arrested on a murder charge in connection with that fatal shooting that Jenal said is believed to be gang related. It was one of several shootings in the Palms area on Thursday.
Five people were hit by gunfire in a series of cases that put the Los Angeles Police Department on high alert.
