A 23-year-old man died in San Juan Capistrano after being tased by police on Monday.
Andru Maldonado, was seen going in and out of businesses in the area. Surveillance camera video from a restaurant show Maldonado kneeling down and seemingly in pain.
Police received reports of erratic behavior on the 32000 block of Camino Capistrano at approximately 4:40 p.m.
The altercation between Maldonado and police occurred they attempted to arrest him but when he resisted, they tased him.
Customers inside the restaurant recorded cellphone video that show Maldonado laying across the street while deputies were doing chest compressions.
Maldonado was later pronounced dead at the hospital. It is still unclear how many times he was struck with the taser.
"He did not deserve this, he was a young man," said Alma Morales, his cousin. "We all have children, we all have sons. He did not deserve this."
