Woman Killed in Double Shooting in East Los Angeles

A woman was killed and another person was wounded in a shooting in East Los Angeles, authorities said Monday.

The gunfire was reported at 11:09 p.m. Monday in the 4000 block of East Sixth Street, near Downey Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Upon arrival, police found two women who were suffering from gunshot wounds. One woman died at the scene, authorities said.

A dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said paramedics were called to respond to two gunshot victims but only transported one victim to a hospital.

No weapon was recovered at the scene. A suspect description was not immediately available.
