The daughter of Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker was arrested Sunday night after allegedly assaulting her neighbor with a toy lightsaber following a dispute near her Sherman Oaks home, police said.
Autumn Whitaker, 23, was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department inmate records.
Whitaker's neighbor suffered cuts to his head that required stitches after allegedly being struck with a "toy lightsaber type of weapon," Los Angeles Police Department officials told NBC4.
Officers from LAPD's Van Nuys Station responded to the 13000 block of Huston Street in Sherman Oaks just after 10 p.m., according to LAPD Media Relations Officer Mike Lopez. The incident is believed to have stemmed from a dispute with a neighbor, Lopez said.
Another woman, 24-year-old Brandy Sorice, was also arrested following the incident. Sorice and Whitaker were released on $30,000 bail the next morning.
Both Whitaker and Sorice are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 31 to face felony charges, jail records show.
