Actor Marty Ingels Dies at Age 79

Actor and comedian, Marty Ingels, known for appearances on “The Dick Van Dyke Show” as well as many other shows in the 1960s died Wednesday, his actress and singer wife Shirley Jones said.

Ingels, also a voice actor, talent agent, and producer, died in his Tarzana home following complications from a stroke at the age of 79.

Ingels is survived by his wife, three stepsons, Shaun, Patrick, and Ryan Cassidy, and a niece, Lauren Ingerman. Marty and Shirley shared twelve grandchildren.

Notable work includes a role on the ABC television series I’m Dickens, He’s Fenster. He also appeared on CBS sitcoms, “Pete and Gladys,” “The Ann Sothern Show,” and “Hennessey.”

He appeared in an episode of ABC's “Bewitched”, as well.

On CBS's “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” he played Sol Pomeroy, friend of the character Rob Petrie. 

"He often drove me crazy, but there’s not a day I won’t miss him and love him to my core," his wife Jones said in a statement.
