Two girls allegedly abducted by their father from a home in Bellflower were found unharmed Monday in Utah after the man learned an Amber Alert had been issued and contacted authorities.
Stephen Andrew Litwin, 34, allegedly took Natalya, 6, and Katelyn, 2, about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Deputy Benjamin Grubb of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said.
An Amber Alert was issued early Monday morning, and authorities released photos of the girls and a license number and description of a vehicle believed to be driven by Litwin. About 8:20 a.m., he contacted authorities, Deputy Lillian Peck said.
"Detectives have learned that suspect Litwin had traveled with the missing children to the state of Utah,'' Peck said. "Litwin heard about the Amber Alert via the media, contacted the local law enforcement authorities, and is awaiting interview by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department detectives.''
Sheriff's officials did not disclose exactly where in Utah the man and girls were found. Deputies had said earlier that "Litwin has reportedly made threats to harm his two daughters."
