American Airlines is shutting down service at Burbank's Bob Hope Airport, the company announced Monday.
"Our objective is to make our company competitive and more efficient in an increasingly challenging industry. We will continue to respond to operational and market changes -- as we always have -- and to make adjustments to ensure we are competitive," wrote AA in a statement.
Feb. 9 will be the last day for the airline in Burbank.
Although the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November, Monday's announcement was not related to restructuring, according to Ed Martelle of American Airline's media relations department.
"The changes announced today resulting in schedule adjustments are related to normal business changes," he wrote.
Also Monday, AA announced the end of its Chicago-New Delhi service, effective March 1.
