A search and rescue team hoisted a car crash victim to safety early Tuesday after finding a vehicle about 400 feet off the side of Angeles Crest Highway north of La Canada Flintridge.
One occupant climbed down the side of the mountain and called for help after the 1:30 a.m. crash, according the California Highway Patrol. A second victim was found about 200 feet from the vehicle.
The victim suffered minor injuries, according to the CHP.
Montrose Search and Rescue hoisted the victim up the mountain side about two hours after the crash. A Los Angeles County helicopter airlifted the victim to a hospital.
A nitrous oxide tank, often used in cars modified for street racing, was recovered at the crash site. Crews planned to wait until later Tuesday morning to recover the vehicle.
The driver did not crash into anything before the vehicle tumbled down the side of the mountain, according to the CHP.
