A hoax 911 call on Wednesday night activated a massive police presence at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. Macy Jenkins reports for the NBC4 News at 11 p.m. on March 12, 2025.
Law enforcement cleared the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital in San Bernardino after finding no threat in the report of a possibly armed individual.
Around 6 p.m., what authorities believed to be a male subject called a non-emergency line and advised he was hearing voices in his head and he wanted to kill people, according to LASD Lieutenant Kari Klaus. He then proceeded to say that he was armed and was entering Loma Linda Children's Hospital.
The incident appears to be a swatting call, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
Armed officials were on the scene shortly after receiving the call Wednesday night and working to clear out the facilities. Patients were asked to shelter in place as police cleared out every floor, one by one.

A SWAT team and additional resources were called in due to the size of the medical facility.
No gunshots were heard, and no reports of any injuries, according to Lieutenant Klaus.
Teresa Diaz says was visiting her husband at the hospital on the 13th floor where she was evacuated.

"We noticed there was commotion. Then they evacuated us. I overheard there was an active shooting. I hope they catch him. It's traumatizing," said Diaz.
In the case of a code silver or active shooter situation, Loma Linda University Health will implement an emergency lockdown to secure the campus.
