Blaze Damages Medical Marijuana Business

Damages were estimated at $10,000 to the structure, $2,000 to its contents

Firefighters put out a blaze at a medical marijuana business in Pasadena Sunday, authorities said. The fire at 50 N. Mentor Avenue, near Colorado Boulevard, was reported about 4:45 a.m., Pasadena Fire Department spokesperson Lisa Derderian said.

The fire was quickly extinguished and confined to the room where it began, Derderian said. A unit above the business sustained minor smoke damage, she said.

Due to the cannabis in the building, the 24 firefighters were instructed to remain in full breathing apparatus throughout the operation, she said.

There were no injuries, she said. Damages were estimated at $10,000 to the structure and $2,000 to the contents, she said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
