Bomb Scare Forces Fire Station Evacuation

Stretch of Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock temporarily closed

Police responded to a bomb scare in Eagle Rock on Wednesday morning.

Fire station 42 had to be evacuated and Colorado Boulevard was shut down when a concerned citizen walked into the fire station and asked firefighters to check out a device he thought was an explosive, according to police.

The device was thought to possibly be a bomb or a live grenade.

A bomb squad was called in and was determined the explosive was in fact a military-grade smoke bomb.

The smoke bomb was secured, and firefighters are back in the station. Colorado Boulevard has been re-opened.

No word yet as to the origin of the smoke bomb.
