Police responded to a bomb scare in Eagle Rock on Wednesday morning.
Fire station 42 had to be evacuated and Colorado Boulevard was shut down when a concerned citizen walked into the fire station and asked firefighters to check out a device he thought was an explosive, according to police.
The device was thought to possibly be a bomb or a live grenade.
A bomb squad was called in and was determined the explosive was in fact a military-grade smoke bomb.

The smoke bomb was secured, and firefighters are back in the station. Colorado Boulevard has been re-opened.
No word yet as to the origin of the smoke bomb.
