A vegetation fire erupted in Bishop, prompting Cal Fire to issue an evacuation order and warnings in Inyo County.
The Silver Fire broke out around 2:11 p.m. on Sunday, near Silver Canyon Road just north of Bishop.
The fast-moving fire grew to over 1,000 acres with 0% containment, threatening multiple structures and power lines, according to Cal Fire.
Highway 6 was closed by the California Highway Patrol as a result of the proximity to the flames.

Strong winds near Bishop Airport created "extreme turbulence", grounding some firefighting aircraft and complicating containment efforts, according to Cal Fire.
The White Mountain Estates in Mono County were evacuated by local authorities.
