Bryan Stow, the San Francisco Giants fan who was brutally beaten outside Dodger Stadium, has written his own name, his family said Wednesday.
"This picture speaks volumes and we are so proud of him," the family wrote in an update.
The action serves as a major milestone for the 42-year old paramedic and father of two, who was attacked by two men while walking through the Dodger Stadium parking lot on opening day. The suspects in the case, Louie Sanchez, 29, and Marvin Norwood, have pleaded not guilty to charges of felony assault, battery, and mayhem.
Stow suffered a serious brain injury in the attack, and has been in the hospital for more than six months.
His family says he continues to show improvement.
"While physical therapy and occupational therapy are very difficult for him and exhausts him, his determination is great to see. He can only do about 3 hours of PT and OT a day, spread out, but he goes through the motions and his therapists all report there's definitely a change in his stiffness and his ability to move," his family stated.
Last week, the Dodgers were criticized for suggesting that Stow was partially responsible for what occurred, citing that he had been drinking.
Stow's family expressed outrage over the comments.
"How you are judged in life is how you react after mistakes" said attorney Thomas Girardi. "Oh so here it is: Let's blame the innocent guy for the lack of security at Dodger Stadium."
