A car crashed into a power pole in Anaheim early Tuesday morning, setting off a power outage that extended into the afternoon, police said.
The single-vehicle collision was reported around 2:40 a.m. near Savanna Street and Knott Avenue, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
Crews were able to restore power to most of the area except a section west of where the accident occurred. The remaining power was expected to be restored between Noon and 1 p.m., according to the Anaheim Police Department.
About 3,500 customers were without power at the height of the outage. By noon, a few hundred customers were waiting for power to return.
Police said the crash happened after the driver fell asleep. The driver was not impaired, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
The site of the crash is about two blocks away from where the a suspected drunken driver crashed into a power pole on Sunday, causing a power outage.
After the crash, police closed the southbound lanes of Knott Avenue between West Orange Avenue and Ball Road and reopened them at 5:15 a.m., according to the Anaheim Police Department.
