Crystal Egger Creates a Sunny Space of Her Own

San Francisco’s high-cost of living continues to skyrocket.

A face that's familiar to early-risers in Los Angeles is back in the spotlight with a platform of her own creation. Crystal Egger was the morning meteorologist for Today in LA on NBC4 until 2017, when she stepped down to take what she called "a huge leap of faith" and pursue "something different."

Egger recently made her way back into her old studio to discuss the project that pulled her away two years ago. A Sunny Space is a new online platform and documentary series featuring bold, inspiring women following their dreams.

Originally, it started out with the thought 'My daughters need amazing role models to look up to,'" she said. "I wanted to create role models for them and share the stories of people that were inspiring me."

Taking that leap wasn't easy. Egger had been a broadcast meteorologist for 15 years. Born and raised in the Inland Empire, she started her career in tiny Idaho Falls before moving on to Denver, working for The Weather Channel and finally making her way to NBC4.

"I think you get to a point where you question, what really is success and how do you define being fulfilled?" she said. To Egger, success was defined as having the opportunity to spend time with her two daughters, being close to her family in San Diego and "no more 2 a.m. wake up calls!"

"I felt this need to try something new and create something," she said.

A Sunny Space is filled with stories of inspiring women who followed their own definition of happiness, just like Egger did.
