Driver, Passenger Hurt in Anaheim Pursuit Identified

Two men arrested after a pursuit in Anaheim last week in which one of them was hit by an unmarked police vehicle at the end of the chase were identified on Monday.

Andre Flores, 20, and Victor Mondragon, 19, both from Anaheim, were identified. Mondragon, a passenger in the car, was hurt when he jumped out of the fleeing car and remains hospitalized. Police did not disclose his condition, citing privacy issues.

Flores was booked into jail on charges of felony hit and run, felony evading, possession and of a controlled substance for sales, carrying a loaded firearm and gang enhancements, said Lt. Eric Trapp, of the Anaheim Police Department.

The pursuit began about 5 p.m. on Friday, during a police patrol in downtown Anaheim.

Officers spotted a man leaning into a vehicle with two people inside in an alley. When the officers went to investigate, the man leaning into the car ran off and the car drove away.

As the car fled it collided with a van, but continued to drive off.

The suspect drove to Ball Road, where one of them threw a gun out the window. It was later recovered.
