Drunken Suspect Leads Cops on Two Hour Chase

A suspected drunken driver who then allegedly carjacked a pickup truck in South Los Angeles led authorities on a dangerous
high-speed chase Thursday night that went all the way to the Mexican border in San Diego County.

The chase ended with a "pit manuever" around 9:50 p.m.  No one was hurt.

The suspect was involved in a collision around 7:30 p.m. near a Kmart store in the 5800 block of South Vermont Avenue, said Deputy Richard Pena of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The suspect jumped out of his vehicle after the accident and carjacked a pickup truck.  From there the suspect led police on a two hour plus pursuit.  There was never a hostage in the pickup.
