A distraught mother duck couldn’t get to her ducklings below after they fell into a storm drain, but members of the Los Angeles County Fire and University Police departments came to the rescue of the adorable babies Tuesday.
Students at Cal Poly Pomona saw 10 ducklings fall into a storm drain on campus. The students called police, and sheriff’s deputies and fire officials went out to help.
In a video that captured the incident, the distressed mama duck can be seen poking her head through the fence, trying to get to her babies below.
Fire crews went into the storm channel to retrieve the wayward waddling offspring. They placed the ducklings in a large plastic bin and brought them back to the world above.
The ducklings were reunited with their mother and quickly fell in line behind her as they shuffled out of the Cal Poly Pomona parking lot.
Thanks to the students and first responders, there was a happy ending for the little family.
