Thousands of counterfeit make-up brushes have been seized at LAX, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Authorities say the haul, which included about 5,400 brushes, had a suggested retail price of $112,500. The shipments arrived in Los Angeles between Jan. 20 and Feb. 11.
"The illegal trade of unsafe counterfeit imports is harmful to U.S. consumers and the economy. Applying their skills and ability to detect trademark violations, CBP import specialists and officers at LAX continue to intercept and confiscate these illicit shipments," said CBP Acting Director of Field Operations Los Angeles, Carlos Martel.
According to Customs, officials "targeted and seized the counterfeit merchandise at an air cargo express consignment location."
