An investigation was underway in Long Beach Thursday night after a driver struck a mother and her five children, police said.

The crash happened just after 7 p.m. near East Anaheim Street and Gundry Avenue, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

A woman and five children, ages 4 to 12, were struck, but none were seriously hurt, fire officials said. The family was expected to make a full recovery.

The driver was under investigation for possible DUI and taken into custody at the scene.
