A man who exited his vehicle after it stalled on a freeway south of downtown Los Angeles was struck and killed Friday morning by another driver.
The crash -- one of several that closed lanes on Southern California freeways early Friday -- was reported at 3:18 a.m. on the northbound 710 Freeway in Lynwood. The driver of a stalled vehicle was standing in the No. 2 lane, not in the emergency areas on the side of the freeway, when he was struck by another driver, according to the California Highway Patrol.
"(The driver) wasn't able to react in time," said CHP Sgt. Bill Preciado.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken into custody because he did not have proper identification, according to the CHP.
Road crews reopened northbound lanes at about 6 a.m.

At about 3:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received a report of a crash involving a motorcyclist on the 105 Freeway near Wilimington Avenue. Details regarding the crash were not immediately available.
Lanes on the westbound side of the 105 Freeway remained closed at 6 a.m.
In Downey, a crash closed part of the eastbound 105 Freeway connector to the 605 Freeway.
