A fire gutted a downtown business and spread to a second building before firefighters put it out Sunday.
The blaze at a warehouse at East 10th Street and Central Avenue started shortly about 1:25 a.m. and burned for more than hour before it was extinguished.
More than 100 Los Angeles firefighters were assigned to the blaze.
Arriving crews reported a blaze outside and behind the buildings, fire spokesman Erik Scott said. Apparently, the fire started among some party supplies stored outside.
The fire moved into a tall warehouse at 1171 E. 10th St. and spread an adjacent 50-by-100 foot building that shared a wall, Scott said. The 50-by-100 foot building housed several businesses, including a pinata company, a videographer at the scene said.
It was unclear what was in the taller building.
How the fire started was not immediately known. A damage estimate was being made this morning.
