Non-stop FlyAway bus service begins Wednesday between Irvine and Los Angeles International Airport. The bus service is designed to ease airport-area traffic congestion, officials said.
Airport ground transportation planners forecast that as many as 72,000 passengers will use the Irvine FlyAway bus service during its first year of operation. Irvine Station will be the fourth site in the FlyAway network, joining Van Nuys, where service began in 1975; Union Station, where service began in 2006; and Westwood, where service began in 2007.
Buses are scheduled to leave Irvine Station at 4:45 a.m., 6:45 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Service from LAX to Irvine will be offered at 9:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 3:45 p.m., 5:45 p.m., 7:45 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.
The fare for the one-way, 50-mile trip between Irvine Station and LAX will be $25 for adults. Two children in grades eight and under can ride for free with each paying adult. There is no charge for children under age 5.
