From the Chopping Block to Grand Marshal

VIPs head to Disneyland aboard "Turkey 1"

Courage has a lot of luck. The turkey, who received a pardon Wednesday from President Obama at a White House ceremony, will be joined by his alternate, Carolina as they head to Disneyland. Courage will be the honorary grand marshal of Thursday's Thanksgiving Parade.

Following the parade, the National Thanksgiving Turkeys will live at Santa's Reindeer Round-up at Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland for the rest of their lives.

Both turkeys flew aboard a United Airlines flight dubbed Turkey 1 from Washington's Dulles International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday.

Courage is a 20-week-old, 45-pound tom turkey, raised on a farm in Goldsboro, N.C., under the supervision of Walter Pelletier, the chairman of the National Turkey Federation and secretary-treasurer of Butterball, LLC, the nation's largest turkey producer.

This is the fifth consecutive year the National Thanksgiving Turkey has been taken to a Disney resort following his pardon.
