Game Prediction: Where Will the Victory Bell Land?

The Bruins must play perfect to beat the Trojans

The USC Trojans (7-5, 4-4 Pac-10) will take on the UCLA Bruins (4-7, 2-6 Pac-10) in the Rose Bowl on Saturday for the coveted “Victory Bell.”  For the first time since 2000, both teams are unranked and for the first time since the 80's that both teams will not be playing in a Bowl game.

THIS WEEK'S PREDICTION:

UCLA BRUINS vs. USC TROJANS

RESULTS GAME DETAILS MY PREDICTIONS

@ the Rose Bowl
Sat., Dec. 4th - 5:00 p.m.

The Trojans will wallop the Bruins.

Trojans 42 - Bruins 23

FINISH THESE STATEMENTS:

  • If UCLA can ____________________________, then they will win the game.

"keep it close" - The Trojan defense is notorious for giving up last drive scores as they have allowed opposing teams to score at will. For the season, the Trojans have allowed late-game scores in all but three games.  If USC could figure out how to shut the door when the clock is clicking down, then we are looking at a one-loss Trojan team.  The Bruins have one of the top kickers in the country in Kai Forbath.  Forbath already has one game-winner this year, and he would love to close out his Bruin career with one against the Trojans.

  • If USC can ____________________________, then they will win the game.

"keep the Bruins backs under 100 yards" - When the Bruins are successful in the run game they are awful hard to beat, and when the Trojans allow 100 yards in the rushing game they lose.  Simple as that.  If the Bruins can get their running game back on track and aren't forced to take to the air, the Bruins have a chance. A slim chance.
