A garage collapsed in Van Nuys after an explosion Friday, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded to the home at 6953 N Murietta Ave. just before 1 p.m.
A 73-year-old man suffered critical, life threatening burns, LAFD said.
Family members told firefighters they had been using the kitchen stove right before the blast.
The explosion was under investigation.
