A Garden Grove woman who allegedly cut off her estranged husband’s penis and put it in a garbage disposal has pleaded not guilty.
Catherine Kieu, 48, pleaded not guilty to aggravated mayhem and torture on Friday.
Authorities said Kieu allegedly severed her husband’s penis in July 2011 after getting into an argument. She reportedly used a 10-inch kitchen knife to cut off the organ after she drugged his dinner and tied him to his bed.
Doctors at UC Irvine were unable to re-attach the organ.
The couple had still been living together even after her estranged husband filed for divorce in May 2011.
Kieu, who was indicted last month, faces possible life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.
