Granada Hills Fire Threatening Homes is Knocked Down

All nearby homes were protected and no injuries were reported.

A brush fire broke out this afternoon in a residential area of Granada Hills, but 70 firefighters and a helicopter crew contained the flames before any homes were damaged.

The fire broke out for unknown reasons about 3:45 p.m. in the 17300 block of West Signature Drive, near Louise Avenue, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Initially reported as two acres, the fire burned just over an acre of light to medium brush and was extinguished within an hour. Crews were expected to remain on scene for two more hours to guard against flare-ups, Prange said.

All nearby homes were protected and no injuries were reported.
