It's the nicest waterfront property in Palm Springs right now. Except it's not supposed to be. Rain has delayed second-round play of the Bob Hope Classic at the Arnold Palmer Private Course at PGA West.
Up to 1.5 inches of rain was expected to fall Thursday in La Quinta, according to the National Weather Service.
Slugger White, a PGA Tour rules official, said most of the courses were under water.
"We just don't have a golf course. We don't have a golf course to play. We would be taking guys up from the middle of the fairway in lakes," White said.
He said the La Quinta Country Club course appeared to be the hardest- hit, but there was also about a foot of water in the fairway at the Nicklaus Private Course at PGA West.
"There's just no place to play," he said.
White said play would likely continue through Monday.

"It's a mess. I've been coming out here for a long time, and I've never seen anything like this," White said.
Weather had not affected the pro-am tournament since 1980, when play was suspended, said tournament spokesman Toby Zwikel.
Play is tentatively set to resume at 8:30 a.m. Friday, weather permitting.
