Highland Park Crash Leads to Search for Driver of Stolen Car

Police set up a perimeter and began searching the neighborhood.

Police were searching for the driver of a stolen car in a Highland Park neighborhood Friday after the driver crashed into as many as four other vehicles and took off, authorities said.

Police said they were following a stolen car at 7:22 p.m. at Avenue 64 and Repton Street after spotting a known gang member, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver was believed to have realized he was being trailed, and blew through a stop sign.

The stolen black Honda smashed into a white sedan, leaving the occupants in critical condition.

Another car was struck in the intersection, and that driver was also left in critical condition. A total of three people were hospitalized in the violent wreck.

The driver of the stolen car was able to leave the car and flee into the neighborhood.

Police set up a perimeter and began scouring the area for the man, using K-9 units.
