A Hot Mess: Truck Spills Peppers Onto Roadway

A truck overturned and spilled its load of red peppers onto a Santa Paula roadway on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018. The spill caused road closures, but no one was hurt, police said.

Things got a whole lot spicier on the streets of Santa Paula when a truck overturned and spilled its flavorful cargo.

Lanes were closed at Telegraph and Briggs roads when the truck flipped over at a drainage ditch and spilled its trailer full of red bell peppers Friday night, the California Highway Patrol said.

A crane was brought in and helped to turn the trailer back upright.

The CHP didn't say what caused the accident, but noted that no one was injured and that lanes were back open by Saturday morning.
