A fire that engulfed a commercial building in Irvine Saturday is under control, according to fire officials.
Eighty firefighters responded to a call at about a fire at Trantronics Inc. at about 11:30 a.m., and fought the intense fire “in a defensive mode,” said battalion chief Kris Concepcion of the Orange County Fire Authority.
Trantronics, located at 1822 Langley Ave., specializes in electronic assembly for manufacturing companies, according to its website.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
Firefighters were able to control the blaze after about two hours. Due to a potential building collapse, firefighters were pulled from the building before it was declared knocked out at about 1:30 p.m.
The building had been empty since employees left Friday night, and no one was injured in the fire, said Concepction.
Irvine resident Geoffrey Pierce captured the fire as he was driving home from a local dog park and uploaded the videos to YouTube:
