Folding chairs, check. BBQ, check. Fire extinguisher, ok. But leave your couch at home.
The mad scramble for sidewalk space along the Tournament of Roses Parade route begins Thursday. Starting at noon, spectators can reserve spots by setting up folding tables, chairs and sleeping bags on sidewalks.
The Pasadena Fire Department issued a laundry list of do's and don'ts for Parade goers.
The short version: if you have a BBQ, bring a fire extinguisher. Keep it off the ground and 25 feet from buildings. 18 and younger must be supervised by an adult. No drinking, bonfires, or fireworks. You can't sell your reserved space either.
Other issues mentioned: don't bring your couch, it's not allowed (yes, this was in the rules). Leave your ladder home too.
The 121st Rose Parade starts at 8 a.m. Friday at Orange Grove and Colorado boulevards. The first units are expected to reach the east end of the nearly six-mile parade route about two hours later.
