LAPD, Boston Police Lay it on the Line

The heads of the Los Angeles and Boston police  departments made a bet on the NBA finals Wednesday, with the loser agreeing to work  a patrol shift in the winner's city.

The terms of the bet between Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie  Beck and Boston Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis call for the loser to use  his vacation time for the trip and work in their own uniform alongside local  officers because the visiting lawman will not have jurisdiction in the other  state.

"I'm not sure where I would have Commissioner Davis work, maybe Hollywood," Beck said.

The best-of-seven NBA finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics is scheduled to begin Thursday at Staples Center.
