The Los Angeles County Office of Education released a list of schools and districts that will be closed Wednesday due to dangerously high winds and three ongoing brush fires in the Southland.
Firefighters in Southern California began battling three large brush fires Tuesday that included the Palisades Fire in Pacific Palisades, Eaton Fire in Altadena and Hurst Fire in Sylmar. As crews continue their relentless firefight, several schools will be closed to keep students and staff safe.
According to the LA County Office of Education, Palisades Charter High School, an independent charter high school, is not currently in session. The Zoo Magnet at North Hollywood High School will not have classes at the Los Angeles Zoo. Students and staff will report to the North Hollywood High School main campus.

A full list of schools will be released shortly. The situation rapidly changed overnight as the Eaton fire exploded and it is prudent that we follow the science and close schools. All athletic activities, games, and practices are cancelled today. The six schools previously announced will remain closed. All other areas should exercise caution and protect themselves. The District will extend flexibility and grace with schedules, families, and employees, including schools that are most impacted being able to pivot to minimum day schedules.
