Police arrest man wielding pellet gun outside business in Long Beach

A shooting involving at least one Long Beach officer was being investigated on Thursday.

A man wielding a pellet gun was arrested following a short standoff with officers outside a business in Long Beach.

Police responded to a call of a man with a gun around 1:32 p.m. in the 5500 block off Atlantic Avenue.

Officers made contact with the man and attempted to have them drop the suspected firearm. An officer discharged their weapon but did not strike the man, according to Long Beach police.

The man surrendered and was taken into custody.

Officers recovered a pellet gun resembling a handgun at the scene.

No officers were injured and no other injuries were reported.
