Magnitude-4.1 Quake Shakes Yucaipa Area

Shaking was reported in Rancho Cucamonga and Corona

A magnitude-4.1 earthquake was reported in the Yucaipa area Wednesday morning.

The quake, centered about five miles southwest of Yucaipa, occurred at 7:44 a.m. It was initially reported as a magnitude-4.2 earthquake, but later downgraded to magnitude-4.1.

There have been no reports of damage or injuries, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. NBC4 Facebook page visitors reported shaking in Corona, Mission Viejo, Rancho Cucamonga, Moreno Valley, Lake Elsinore and West Covina

One Facebook visitor said she lives in Yucaipa, but didn't feel the shaking.

The quake had a depth of nearly 10 miles, according to the United States Geological Survey. The point at which the earthquake begins to rupture is its depth, which can be relative to sea-level or the elevation of seismic stations that recorded the event.
