NBC Universal, Inc. Two people killed in Downey in a crash off the 5 Freeway on Saturday, May 23, 2020.

Police Sunday identified one of the people killed in a crash on a Santa Ana (5) Freeway off-ramp in Downey that left two dead, as well as the suspect accused of causing the fatalities.

The suspect was identified as Cash Rencanzone, of Peoria, Arizona, who has been charged with felony hit and run. Authorities said dashcam video helped lead to his arrest.

One of the two people killed was identified as Aide Bustamante, 32, of Huntington Beach

The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. Saturday when a southbound Fiat 500, allegedly driven by Rencanzone, veered right into the rear end of a Nissan Sentra, driven by Bustamante, north of Paramount Boulevard, state police said.

The Sentra skidded down a dirt embankment and crashed into a tree, killing the driver, who still has not been identified, and Bustamante, according to California Highway Patrol officer N. Estrada.

They were pronounced dead at the scene by LA County firefighters, CHP said.

The surviving driver, now identified as Rencanzone, fled on foot, but a witness ran after the suspect and assisted with the pursuit, Estrada said.
