‘Heartbreak': Southern California Mourns Victims in Monterey Park Shooting

At least 10 people were killed in a shooting after Lunar New Year celebrations in the community east of Los Angeles

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said it was still investigating the motive.

A deadly mass shooting that followed a night of Lunar New Year celebrations in Monterey Park left the community east of Los Angeles in mourning.

The shooting happened about an hour after the ending of the first day of a two-day Lunar New Year festival that brought thousands of people to the area. Most of the crowds had already left before the shooting.

A memorial honoring the victims was set up at Monterey Park City Hall.

Details about a motive for the shooting were not immediately available.
