Hundreds gathered outside a downtown Los Angeles Bank of America Wednesday to protest mismanagement they believe is taking place at top financial institutions, as well as cuts to education.
Protestors, some hailing from the Occupy movement, surrounded the building at California Plaza at 4:30 p.m., and began marching the perimeter of downtown’s financial district.
About 50 protestors went inside the bank, tents in hand, hoping to occupy the the lobby, police said. Demonstrators agreed to leave the building following the arrival of police to the scene.
No arrests were made during the incident.
Their large numbers have stifled traffic and have led to the closure of main streets, including Hope Street.
ReFund California spearheaded another protest earlier Wednesday in Westwood near the University of California Los Angeles that also resulted in street closures.
