One student is in custody and another is recovering following a stabbing outside a Highland Park high school Wednesday morning, the Los Angeles School Police Department said in a letter sent to parents and guardians.
The stabbing was reported around 8:30 a.m. in front of Benjamin Franklin Senior High School, which is located at 820 N. Ave. 54, a little north of the 110 Parkway.
"Our school was placed on lockdown; however, no other students or staff were impacted by this incident," LA School Police Department said. "Our campus is now safe."
Details on what led up to the stabbing were not immediately available. One person was taken into custody in connection with the incident.

"During any emergency, the safety of your children is our primary concern," school police continued in its statement. "Please be assured that procedures were implemented according to District policy and that our staff is trained and regularly reviews emergency procedures."
The victim's condition was not immediately available.
Counseling will be available for students and staff impacted by the stabbing.
