A wanted driver was hog-tied and carried to jail by officers after a dangerous police pursuit ended outside a police station in the San Fernando Valley Tuesday evening.
The chase started about 5:30 p.m. It was not immediately known why the driver was wanted.
It wound through freeways and surface streets in the San Fernando Valley, traveling through Pacoima before ultimately ending in Mission Hills -- outside of an LAPD police station on Sepulveda Boulevard, just north of San Fernando Mission.
The male driver weaved through dense rush-hour traffic on the northbound 5 Freeway, then transitioned onto surface streets where he narrowly missed other motorists.
Outside of the LAPD Mission Division, the driver became stuck behind a row of cars waiting at a red light. He skirted the traffic by driving through a gas station parking lot, then drove against traffic.
A police officer performed a PIT manuever on the slow-moving sedan. When the driver came out of the car, he appeared frustrated, shrugging his arms and refusing to put his hands over his head.
He was shot with a non-lethal round. Officers then hog-tied him and walked to the nearby police station.
