Police Dog Bites Officer During Chase in Anaheim

The parolee was caught and arrested, despite the mishap

An Anaheim police officer was bitten by a police dog while chasing a parolee on Saturday night, authorities said.

The chase began about 9 p.m. near East La Palma Avenue and North Baxter Street in Anaheim. Gang officers were following the parolee in cars when they tried to make a traffic stop, said Sgt. Bob Dunn, an Anaheim Police Department spokesman.

The parolee got out of the car and ran, starting a brief foot pursuit, Dunn said.

Moments later, the dog turned on an officer.

The officer's injuries were not serious and the parolee was caught and arrested, Dunn said.
