Two arrested in Police Standoff

Police took a man suspected of breaking car windows into custody.

A standoff between Los Angeles police and a man suspected of breaking windows on parked vehicles ended just before noon Saturday, a police spokesman told NBC LA.

What began as a complaint about a loud party turned into vandalism, then a serious barricade situation and ended with two arrests in North Hollywood, police said.

Officers responded to an apartment building in the 5300 block of North Radford Avenue around 12:30 a.m. regarding a loud party, said Officer Christopher No of the Los Angeles Police Department.

"The suspect was belligerent and uncooperative," No said. "But eventually he turned the music down and the officers left."

Witnesses then reported seeing the host of the loud party walking on the street, shooting at vehicle windows.

"The suspect threatened one of the witnesses with a BB gun, and by the time officers arrived, he had gone back inside the apartment," No said.

Police spoke with the man over the phone, and he told them he had guns and was not coming out, No said.

"That is when the barricade occurred," No said. At least one armored vehicle was brought in as police in body armor saturated the area, and neighbors were evacuated from nearby buildings.

The man was arrested just before noon.

No said a female suspect, who was also uncooperative and belligerent, was also arrested.
