At least four vehicles were destroyed during a raging fire at a carport and apartment building in Orange early Thursday.
Firefighters responded around 4 a.m. to the blaze in the 500 block of South La Veta Park Circle, according to the City of Orange Fire Department.
The fire burned for about 15 minutes, melting and damaging 10 other vehicles in a carport before spreading to a nearby apartment building. Firefighters sprayed water on the building to protect against the blaze but several unit windows shattered from the heat, fire officials said.
Residents were evacuated from the Villa Point Apartments while firefighters extinguished the fire.
A fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
