Record high temperatures are forecasted for parts of the Inland Empire this weekend, but coastal temperatures will be much cooler.
Inland areas will see temperatures 10 to 20 degrees above normal Friday, with high temperatures remaining through the weekend and flirting with record highs on Saturday.
On Friday, temperatures could reach 103 in Palm Springs, 97 in Riverside and 95 in San Bernadino, while Los Angeles-area temperatures are expected to top out at 80 in downtown, 90 in Pasadena, and 89 in Burbank.
Temperatures in the low desert, including the Coachella Valley -- where another weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is underway -- will peak Saturday with highs up to 105.
It'll be much cooler on the coast, with upper temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s expected through the weekend. Clouds are expected to build early next week.
Southwestern swells are expected to reach 4 feet in Orange County and 3 feet in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
